Wayne L. Levering

U.S. Veteran

Wayne L. Levering, 80, formerly of Frazeysburg, Ohio died Sunday evening, April 15, 2012 at Emeritus at North Hills in Zanesville, Ohio. Born November 13, 1931 in Cardington, Ohio he was a graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School. He was a U. S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green University. He retired in 1985 for Newark High School where he had been an instructor in Industrial Arts, Automotive Mechanics and Drivers Education. After his retirement he continued to work as a driving instructor with the Licking Valley Driving School, both in Licking and Muskingum counties. Mr. Levering was a member of the Frazeysburg United Methodist Church, Frazeysburg Lions Club and Licking County Retired Teachers Association. He was active in Boy Scouts and was a Y’s Man at the Newark YMCA. Surviving is his wife, Emily W. (Wallace) Levering whom he married November 24, 1962; four daughters, Karen Levering of Sarasota, Florida, Candace (Kevin) Beachy of Bradenton, Florida, Mary (Brian) Barr of Zanesville and Debra Levering of Newark; five grandchildren, Ashley (August Lowery) Barr, Brian Barr, Jr., Carter Levering-Perrine, Bethany Beachy and Timothy Beachy; two nieces, Cindy (Greg) Gray-Stanley and Rebecca Gray and several cousins. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Louise Gray. Calling hours will be 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 110 West Third Street. Funeral services will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Mesnard and the Rev. Tim Patton officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
