Terry Lynn Athey, Sr.

A funeral service for Terry Lynn Athey, Sr, 71 of Newark will be held Friday May 4, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Newark Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Burgie officiating.

Mr. Athey died Monday April 30, 2012 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. He was born October 27, 1940 in Newark to the late Charles Edward and Mary Ellen (Cotterman) Athey.

Mr. Athey retired from the shipping and receiving department of Owens Corning Fiberglas in 2000 with 32 years of service. He was a member of the Owens Corning Retirees and 25 Year Club. He was a member of the NRA. He was formerly involved with the Newark and Heath Eagles. He had been an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting mushrooms. In more recent years he enjoyed riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret E. (Armstrong) Athey, whom they had been together since 1992; children, Terry Lynn Athey, II of Newark, Tracy Lane Athey of Heath, Julie Lorraine (Eddie D.) Huffman of Hilliard, Amelia Harley Dustin of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Edward (Patricia) Athey of Hebron, Roland (Cathe) Athey of Heath, Robert (Diane) Athey of Newark; grandchildren, David Lynn (Tracie) Drier of Wisconsin, Terry Lynn (Holly) Athey, III of Newark; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Maze and Blaze Athey and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be observed Friday evening 4 to 7 p.m. at the VENSIL & CHUTE FUNERAL HOME 1850 West Main Street.
